We Don't Need No Stinking Badges!
I don't have to show you any stinking badges!

"Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges. I don't have to show you any stinking badges!"
"El Bandido", as played by Alfonso Bedoya in "Treasure of the Sierra Madre" (1948)

Commentary by La Voz de Aztlan

This film was produced by the Jewish Warner Brothers in 1948. Today the images being portrayed of Mexicans by Hollywood are no different than the stereotyped "bandido" portrayed in "Treasure of Sierra Madre". Some of the most common stereotypes are: 1. The bandido 2. The maid 3. The gardener 4. The narco 5. The illegal alien 6. The farmworker 7. The "hot" Latina 8. The gangbanger and 9. The corrupt politico.

La Voz de Aztlan will highlight a typical Hollywood Mexican stereotype from time to time. We hope to raise the consciousness of La Raza to these negative images of our community in order to take action against them.
