Federal hate crime charges filed in murder
of Mexican immigrant Luis Ramirez

The US Department of Justice announced today that a federal grand jury has indicted two Pennsylvania racist thugs and four Shenandoah cops in the vicious hate killing of Mexican immigrant Luis Ramirez that ocurred on July 12, 2008 in Shenandoah.

Derrick Donchak and Brandon Piekarsky were charged with a hate crime for the brutal and fatal beating of 25-year-old Luis Eduardo Ramirez Zavala of Guanajuato, Mexico while shouting hateful racial and ethnic slurs.

Also indicted are Shenandoah Police Chief Matthew Nestor, and three officers under his command with a variety of charges, including witness tampering and lying to the FBI. Police Chief Nestor, Lt. William Moyer, and Officer Jason Hayes were charged with conspiring to obstruct justice during the investigation into the murder of Luis Ramirez. Lt. William Moyer was also charged with witness and evidence tampering, and lying to the FBI.

Shenandoah cop Jason Hayes, according to court testimony, is the "lover" of bar maid Tammy Piekarsky. Tammy Piekarsky is the mother of killer Brandon Piekarsky.

In a local court Piekarsky was previously acquitted by an all-White jury of third-degree murder and ethnic intimidation while Donchak was acquitted of aggravated assault and ethnic intimidation. Both were convicted of only simple assault, which carry at most only one- or two-year prison sentences.
