Mexican youth in "cold blood"

14 year old Sergio Hernandez Huereca shot in the head by US Border Patrol

A new video has surfaced of the actual shooting of 14 year old Sergio Hernandez Huereca by a US Border Patrol agent. Sergio Hernandez was shot in the head while standing on the Mexican side of the border in Cd. Juarez, Chihuahua. The video was taken through a cell phone camera by a witness from the Mexican side. The video has been shown widely in the Mexican media and has added more outrage against "los gringos."

It appears that the youth was playing in a location where some men were attempting to cross the border. The video shows two or three men running towards the Mexican side when surprised by a US Border Patrol agent. The agent grabs one of the men and starts dragging him along the pavement at which point other men started throwing rocks in an attempt to distract and force the agent to release their friend. At this point the agent takes aim and shoots Sergio Hernandez Huereca who was standing behind a concrete column supporting a railroad bridge connecting both countries.

The family of the youth live near the border and are totally devastated. Maria Hernandez said her little brother was playing near the river with a friend and a relative when he was shot. "They came down here to play and he never crossed to the other side. He would never cross over,” she said. Maria's brother, Omar Hernandez, also showed up at the scene. He says the border patrol agent shot his little brother in the head. “They were playing up here and then all three of them went down there to the river. Then all of a sudden border patrol started shooting at them."

This murder incident is just one of many that have occurred on the border involving racist and trigger happy US Border Patrol agents, especially after the passage of the anti-Mexican SB1070 in Arizona. Though there are some professional and sane border patrol agents, many are White supremacist gringos that hate Mexicans. It is not going to be safe for these agents after this incident. They are going to have to watch their backs more carefully. In the future, they may have to deal with "snipers with real bullets" instead of mere rock throwers. Irresponsible acts like these by rogue agents places the lives of the others in danger but worst of all could spark hostilities between Mexico and the US or a civil war between Mexican-Americans and Whites.
