Colombia rearrests TELESUR journalist

News reporter Freddy Munoz of Venezuela's TELESUR has been rearrested by the government of conservative Colombian President Alvaro Uribe.

Columbian born Freddy Munoz, was arrested in November but freed last month after international protests by media groups that included "Reporters Without Borders" based in Paris, France. The arrest was prompted by interviews Munoz conducted with Colombian rebels.

TELESUR is a project of President Hugo Chavez of Venezuela and other Latin American countries as an alternative to biased cable news networks in the US.

Colombian President Alvaro Uribe has received millions of dollars from the US to crack down on the rebels and he might have received orders from his handlers to arrest journalist Freddy Munoz. There have been numerous government interferences against the free press recently. Last year, US Homeland Security raided the office of La Voz de Aztlan in Los Angeles.

La Voz de Aztlan has a satellite linkup with TELESUR at: http://www.aztlan.net/telesur.htm
