Santa Ana "ethnic cleansing" landlord was
President of an anti-Mexican Jewish fraternity

The historic downtown Yost Theatre that was confiscated from the legendary Mexican Olivos family. Ownership ended up with Iriving Chase.
Irving M. Chase, the Jewish landlord accused of "ethnically cleansing" downtown Santa Ana of Mexicans by city Councilwomen Claudia C. Alvarez was at one time the National President of the racist, bigoted and anti-Mexican Zeta Beta Tau (ZBT) Jewish fraternity. Irving Chase still serves on the Supreme Council of the controversial fraternity and as the Executive Advisor of the Alpha Rho Chapter at UCLA.

Zeta Beta Tau or ZBT has had a horrid history of targeting and offending Mexican students at various colleges and universities including some here in the Los Angeles area. The Jewish fraternity, on which the raunchy and barbarous film "Animal House" was based, has been suspended in a least 3 campuses for racist and bigoted behaviors against minority students.

One of the most egregious incidents by ZBT against Mexicans occurred at California State University, Northridge in 1992 when ZBT was planning to hold one of their extremely offensive "Mexican theme" parties. The zeebs, as they call themselves, sent out an invitation to their party that included the lyrics to a raunchy pornographic song about a Mexican whore. The drinking song named "Lupe" includes the following lyrics:

The invitation flyer by these racist and insensitive Jews caused quite a disturbance on the campus and in the Mexican community of Los Angeles and elsewhere. The university administration eventually suspended the fraternity but later re-instated it. Zeta Beta Tau earned the ugly reputation it deserves and to this day the fraternity is shunned by Latino and other students.

Irving M. Chase has accused Councilmember Claudia C. Alvarez of antisemitism. Perhaps we as a community should accuse Mr. Chase of antimexicansim for associating and being a leader of an organization such as Zeta Beta Tau.
