Arizona Rep. Russell PearceLos Angeles, Alta California - April 24, 2008 - (ACN) La Voz de Aztlan has learned that Rep. Russell Pearce of Mesa, Arizona has quite a "shady" reputation and that some of his own constituents have accused him of being a member of the state's powerful "Mormon Mafia."

Rep. Pearce has spearheaded a series of anti-immigrant laws though the state's House of Representatives in an orchestrated effort, with others, to "ethnically cleanse" the state of Mexicans. Today, as Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, he has pushed amendments to a "Homeland Security" bill that would outlaw the student group Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan (MEChA) and do away with Mexica-American study programs. The bill (SB1108) will also mandate the state's Superintendent of Public Instruction to confiscate books like "Occupied America - A History of Chicanos" by Professor Rodolfo Acuņa.

Prior to being elected to the state House of Representatives in 2000, Russell Pearce served as Director of the Arizona Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) but was forced to resign after his son Justin Pearce, who also worked for the MVD, was arrested in an FBI sting in 1998 for issuing fraudulent state driver's licenses and identification cards. Justin Pearce was indicted in 2000 on two felony charges and ultimately pleaded guilty to a reduced felony of tampering with public records. This was his second felony conviction. Justin Pearce had pleaded guilty in 1998 to misconduct involving a weapon.

In December of 2007, The East Valley Tribune newspaper ran a detailed four part report concerning alleged collusion between Rep. Russell Pearce (a Mormon), David Udall (member of the influential Mormon political family) and former US Congressman Matthew Salmon (also a Mormon) in a conspiracy to monopolise certain lucrative state contracts on behalf of a Maricopa County company called Cactus Towing. The The East Valley Tribune reports that Rep. Russell Pearce received substantial campaign contributions from Cactus Towing and that Cactus Towing provided employment for Pearce's felon son, Justin Pearce.

The allegation that Rep. Pearce is an operative of the "Mormon Mafia" appears very credible in view of what has been occurring in Arizona. For many decades, the "cultish" Mormons whose power base is in Utah, just north of Arizona, have been working diligently to extend their empire southwards to the US/Mexico border.

The anti-Mexican racist activities of Arizona Sheriff Joseph Arpaio also fit well with the "ethnic cleansing" allegations that have been made by many Arizona natives, including the Navajo. Sheriff Arpaio's deputies and civilian posses have been racially profiling brown people in traffic stops and demanding passports, green cards or proof of citizenship. Sheriff Joseph Arpaio was appointed a Campaign Chairman by the Mormon candidate for US president Mitt Romney. Sheriff Arpaio was slated for "Director of Homeland Security" in the event that the Mormons took over the White House.

Rep. Russell Pearce is today a candidate for Arizona State Senator in District 18. He has been endorsed by many of the state's worst White supremacist organizations including the anti-Mexican Minutemen border vigilantes.
