La Voz de Aztlan given "Ultimatum"!
by
Hector Carreon
La Voz de AztlanSince I first ventured to publish a news service on the Internet on January 1, 2000, I have become increasingly aware of how precious the "Bill of Rights", or first ten amendments to the U.S. Constitution, really are. During the debates on the adoption of the Constitution, its opponents repeatedly charged that the Constitution as drafted would open the way to tyranny by the central government. Fresh in their minds was the memory of the British violation of civil rights before and during the Revolution. They demanded a "bill of rights" that would spell out the immunities of individual citizens. The "Bill of Rights" were ratified by the first congress on December 15, 1791 in New York City, the very same place where the recent terrorist attack on September 11 has now precipitated the conditions that are threatening the guaranteed rights of citizens that has made this country special among all nations of the world.
The framers of the constitution did not envision that in the year 2001, there would be political and economic forces that would encircle and decimate the fundamental rights that countless soldiers have shed their blood to protect. Among the most important rights are those afforded by the First Amendment that states "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." This right is now under assault by evil forces that have gradually taken over our government and many of the most important sectors of our society.
Our publication, La Voz de Aztlan, which seeks to remain free of these evil forces, has been under constant assault ever since we started publishing articles and editorials that "unmask" those behind the conspiracy to take away our fundamental human rights of freedom of speech and of the press. These evil men know that "the pen is mightier than the bullet" and are making every effort to not only monopolize the press and media but also to deny that same right to those who are exposing their dastardly plans.
Since threats to our lives and other forms of intimidation have not worked, these evil men are now taking different strategies to shut down La Voz de Aztlan. Our subscribers are familiar with the variety of cowardly attacks upon La Voz de Aztlan designed to silenced us. We have now received a new one.
Apparently, these evil men have been working diligently from behind the scenes to subvert our publication in which ever way they can. They have now twisted the extremities of our gutless website host provider Hostex at www.hostex.net. Mr. Ramunas Ramaneckas of Hostex has now given us an "Ultimatum". He is demanding that we remove two of our articles or face the consequences.
He wrote that his upstream provider has complained and "We therefore request you to remove the articles http://www.aztlan.net/anthrax.htm and http://www.aztlan.net/anthletters.htm within 72 hours. He added, "Failure to remove these articles may compel HOSTEX to suspend your webhosting account until this matter is resolved."
With a few strokes on his key pad, Mr. Ramaneckas is attempting to undo what thousands of U.S military men died for, including the reason why I gave two years of service to the U.S. Army's Second Armored Division during the Vietnam War. Such are the evil machinations of those who are slowly taking our rights from us. They work slowly and from behind the scenes like most cowards. These evil men must really fear La Voz de Aztlan.
We have already made provisions to keep La Voz de Aztlan online. These evil cowardly men will not stop us from exercising our right to write and publish the truth as we see it. We have already created a mirror site at http://www.aztlan.org in case this one is shot down. We will then move http://www.aztlan.net to a location safe from the wretched conspirators. If any of you wish to inform Mr. Ramaneckas about what you think, you can contact him at Ramunas.Ramaneckas@hostex.net
