by LULAC Questions Zionist's
Attack on La Raza
Ernesto Cienfuegos
La Voz de AztlanLos Angeles, Alta California - November 21, 2001 (ACN) The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), the nation's oldest and largest Latino (predominantly Mexican-American) organization with over 700 membership chapters in the United States and Puerto Rico issued a press release on Sunday condemning Jewish Mogul and Zionist Ron Unz for his defamation of our Bilingual Teacher Corps by comparing them to "Islamic terrorists".
It appears that the "Sons of the Covenant" are using similar tactics to defame our public school teachers as they are to defame our publication La Voz de Aztlan. On November 9, 2001, the B'nai B'rith International through its "spy" apparatus in the United States called the ADL also defamed our publisher and our publication through a press release that attempted to tie our news service to Syria and to Islamic terrorists. Our publisher, Hector Carreon, wrote an article concerning this attack on La Raza by B'nai B'rith and is published at http://www.aztlan.net/sonsisrael.htm
Zionist Ron Unz is a wealthy Jew that spent over $750,000 to successfully outlaw the Spanish language in Alta California public schools and is now campaigning to do the same in various others states including Massachusetts. On October 26, 2001, Zionist Ron Unz wrote an article for National Review titled "Rocks Falling Upward at Harvard University" in which he compares the actions of our Bilingual Teacher Corps to those of the terrorist acts on September 11, 2001 in New York City and Washington D.C. He warns Americans about potential foreigners pushing a foreign language in out nation's public schools.
The following is a verbatim excerpt of his article:
"A few weeks ago, Americans witnessed the enormous devastation that a small handful of fanatically committed individuals can wreak upon society. Perhaps it is now time for ordinary Americans to be willing to take a stand against those similarly tiny groups of educational terrorists in our midst, whose disastrous policies are enforced upon us not by bombs or even by knives, but simply by their high-pitched voices. Americans must remain silent no longer."
This is similar to another attack upon La Raza by another Zionist by the name of Stephen Steinlight who is the Director of National Affairs of the American Jewish Committee. Dr. Steinlight wrote a long rambling anti-Mexican immigration elitist paper titled, "The Jewish Stake in America's Changing Demography : Reconsidering a Misguided Immigration Policy". Among other slanders, Dr. Steinlight wrote, "Is it important that Latinos, who know us almost entirely as employers for the menial low-wage cash services they perform for us (such a blowing the leaves from our lawns in Beverly Hills or doing our laundry in Short Hills), will soon form one quarter of the nation’s population? Does it matter that most Latino immigrants have encountered Jews in their formative years principally or only as Christ killers in the context of a religious education in which the changed teachings of Vatican II penetrated barely or not at all? Does it matter that the politics of ethnic succession — colorblind, I recognize — has already resulted in the loss of key Jewish legislators (the brilliant Stephen Solarz of Brooklyn was one of the first of these) and that once Jewish "safe seats" in Congress now are held by Latino representatives?" In other words, what this "uppity" Zionist is saying is that it was OK while we Mexicans were contented with being their "gardeners and maids" but that now that we want representation in government, that Jews better pay more attention to our increasing numbers and voting power. This is a declaration of war if I ever seen one. There are many in our community who are blind or in denial about what the Jews really think about us and how they will do everything possible to stop our economic, educational and political progress.
The U.S. Zionists and specially those in Alta California were contented when they could easily manipulate their Chicano lackeys in the Democratic Party as they were successfully doing with politicians like Tony Villar (aka Antonio Villargairoza). In fact, Tony Villar helped the Zionist Ron Unz to carry his anti-Bilingual Education campaign to other states. During Villar's term as Speaker of the California Assembly and while he was preparing to run for mayor of Los Angeles, he appointed the Zionist Ron Unz to a Select Blue Ribbon Commission, and this was done after Unz had successfully paid for the passage of Proposition 227 that destroyed the much needed and effective Bilingual Education Program in the state. Later, Tony Villar, was instructed by his Jewish handlers, to make sure that the Speakership of the California Assembly passed on to Zionist Robert M. Hertzberg. This act entailed betraying a very qualified Mexican-American state legislator. For this betrayal, and after Villar lost the race for mayor and became unemployed, the now Speaker of the Assembly Hertzberg rewarded Villar with a $100,000 per year job in an obscure state health commission.
La Voz de Aztlan salutes the League of Latin American Citizens - Far Western Region for their courageous stand against the racist Ron Unz and his campaign to defame our committed and hard working Bilingual Teacher Corps. La Raza must stand its ground and teach these Zionists to have more respect for our community.

PRESS STATEMENT
NOVEMBER 18, 2001HISPANIC GROUP SAYS UNZ REMARKS WENT TOO FAR
LULAC calls Comparison of Bilingual School Teachers to Terrorists Unconscionable.
Bilingual education opponent Ron Unz referred to bilingual school teachers as ³terrorists² in an article published in the National Review, a conservative monthly magazine, (Rocks Falling Upward at Harvard University, October 26, 2001). Unz, an outspoken opponent of bilingual instruction has sponsored initiatives in California (1998), Arizona (2000), and other states to eliminate the education of students in languages other than English.
In the National Review Article, Unz wrote: ³A few weeks ago, Americans witnessed the enormous devastation that a small handful of fanatically committed individuals can wreak upon society.² He called upon Americans ³to take a stand against those similarly tiny groups of educational terrorists in our midst.² Unz¹ comparison between bilingual school teachers and terrorists ²demonstrates the depth of his contempt for Hispanics² who comprise an estimated 80% of all bilingual school teachers according to Denis O¹Leary, Education Advisor for the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) Far West Region which includes California, Arizona, Nevada, Colorado, Oregon, Washington, Hawaii and Utah.
O¹Leary, an educator himself, said that Unz¹ remark ³is an insult to thousands of school teachers who lead children in the Pledge of Allegiance everyday² and ³an unconscionable act of self promotion.² O¹Leary has asked the National Review to apologize for the article.
At the heart of the remarks, Unz¹ theories on English only instruction may not be working. According to data released by the California Department of Education this last September, almost one million California elementary, middle and high school students are still classified as not being English proficient. ³This number represents an increase of over 100,000 students from last year¹s figures² O¹Leary said. ³The mandated one year of intensive English immersion has failed², he said.
